Dapper Day dress teaser

knittinginthedesert:

Hello, lovely followers!

Here is a teaser of my Dapper Day dress! I decided not to include too many details of it (the picture is even blurry, I know) because I want to present it in all of its glory, along with my accessories, when I’m actually at Dapper Day in the park!

Here she is!

The pattern is a hybrid of my anniversary dress and this awesome pattern from the 1950’s (x).

I used the remainder of the yarn from my first dress to create this one.

The slip/petticoat was a feat in and of itself. I bought a wedding dress slip from Goodwill for $8. It was too big and only had tulle on the bottom whereas I wanted it beginning at waist level for a more 1950’s style. I cut the slip apart, brought the tulle up, attached an old spaghetti strap top to the skirt, added a zipper, and created a circle skirt to go over the tulle.

All if this….by hand….because I don’t know how to use a sewing machine (I’m so ashamed).

So glad this is done! Off to Disneyland in three weeks! I’m secretly hoping to get my picture taken by the official Dapper Day photographer…fingers crossed that my look is worthy.

Do waaaaaant! But I can’t knit. Fuck.

One finished blanket that spruces up a very old and tired sofa.
My project page on Ravelry is HERE and you can find out all my specifics on it.
I can highly recommend this project, very simple project, endless scope for colour combinations (there are some amazing projects already completed), and easily customisable, this is huge, but you don’t need to do it so big at all!
